SKID CITY Case Study

In today’s day and age it almost feels illegal to not a have a website for your business or a well designed and responsive one. Skid City is a fictional extreme sports park located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. If Skid City wants to be a real business it need to have a website, so took it upon my self to design a website that would make it so that users can get a membership, find information about the park, and see up incoming events happening at the park.

OBJECTIVES

Create Online Accessibility: Create an easily navigable website to make customers want to visit the park and buy memberships.

Strengthen Customer Connections: Build a website to enhance customer retention and loyalty, build a community of loyal customers who contribute to the growth of the park.

Expand Reach and Brand Awareness: Extend the reach to a wider audience, ensuring that more people discover the park online.

Design Process

The design process for Skid City’s website started with deep research  and understanding of the brand’s identity, flocked by the making of a persona and a scenario to get an idea of the target audience. In between the start of the design and research a site map was made. Wireframes were then created to visualize a layout, followed by a  prototype of the website. Lastly, the website was designed, I made sure to keep consistency with the brand’s identity and to have effective communication on what I want users to takeaway.

Persona

Creating a persona was very much needed  to understand the needs of people who need Skid City. While making this persona I envisioned the average user of this website and who it would cater to.

Scenario

Creating a scenario helped me visualize a situation where someone would need to use this website. Not only did the scenario something that really happens in some skaters/riders day to day, but it made realize the struggles some of these people have.

SiteMap

I designed a sitemap of how the website would be organized. This helped me plan where everything would be laid out and how people would move from one part of the site to another.

WireFrame

The rough drafts I made are  called wireframes, I used these rough to see how everything would be laid out. It was crucical to get a good idea of how I wanted everything to be placed because I had a lot of content to place.

Prototype

My prototypes were a demo version of the website, allowing me to see how everything would work fully designed. Prototyping helped me find what images worked and what images didn’t work and how the colors of the site would bounce off of each other.

FInial Look

Skid City’s website reflects the identity of the park. It fits perfectly and stays true to original design. The website shows the different events you can attend and compete in at Skid City, and the different information about everything about the park. Through my design I created not only a fun and visually interesting site but a fully functional and user friendly responsive website.
